Takahiro Kawamura is a Chief Specialist, Toshiba Corp., and also an Associate Professor in the Graduate School of Information Systems, the University of Electro-Communications, a Lecturer in the Graduate School of Engineering, Osaka University, Japan. He received a M.S. and a Ph.D. degree in electrical engineering from Waseda University in 1994 and 2001, respectively. From 2001 to 2002 he was a Visiting Scholar in Robotics Institute, Carnegie Mellon University. He is head of the R&D team on semantic web and agents at Toshiba. His current research interests include integration of semantics and natural language processing, and services. Dr. Kawamura published more than 50 papers in journals, books and as refereed Conference and Workshop contributions. He serves in the Organizing Committee of SMR2 (Service Matchmaking and Resource Retrieval in the Semantic Web Workshop), and in the Program Committee of numerous conferences and workshops including International Semantic Web conference. He is also a member of W3C, WS-I, SWSI, FIPA, and Japan Society for Artificial Intelligence (JSAI).
